No nation will take responsibility of the massive vortex of marine debris in the Pacific. Sure, it would bankrupt any country that tried to clean it, but there are many solutions other than scooping it up and dumping it in a place where it would eventually return to the sea. some companies have already gotten an idea of reusing old fishing lines and nets to make wet suits and bikinis, but I can imagine more than that can be created.
